Thank You, Pam!

As we approach the fourth Thursday of November we’re provisioning for an indulgent holiday banquet with family. Thanksgiving is all about family and feasting, for sure. But it’s first and foremost a ritualized reminder to pause and reflect on everyone for whom we’re grateful and everything for which we’re grateful. In both cases, Pam Murphy features front and center. Thank you, Pam.

Without Pam’s smarts and energy, Rosslyn, ADK Oasis, and the Westport Yacht Club would look a whole lot different, for it is this superwoman, master juggler, intrepid air traffic controller, and dear friend who ensures that concurrent tip-top priorities are perfectly executed across multiple properties in three towns again and again and again. Simply put, there is no Thanksgiving banquet grand enough to appropriately honor everything that Pam bestows upon us. Our gratitude is years deep and miles wide. Thank you, Pam.

If it seems peculiar that I’m wishing Pam a happy Thanksgiving with this curious photograph (and the video below), please allow me to explain. It’s tempting to take you back to the mid-September afternoon when I captured these images, but the particulars are almost irrelevant since this sort of scenario takes place all the time. I was working in the icehouse when Pam came in to troubleshoot a pair of punch list items. She’d broken her foot about a month prior, so she had arrived at the icehouse on crutches, deposited them on the deck, hopped to the middle of the room, and then kneeled down for an impromptu meeting. But then her phone rang with a subcontractor in need of a little management which delivered, on her knees, with the don’t mess with me confidence and conviction she brings to all she does. Diplomatic, yes. Kind, yes. But assertive and persuasive. Minutes later she concluded her phone call, turned back to me and picked up where she’d left off. All on her knees!

Pam Murphy is always, ALWAYS working. Even when a broken foot lands her on her knees! Her work ethic and her commitment, no matter what obstacle challenges her, set her as an inspiration to every single one of her colleagues. Her reliability and her integrity are unrivaled, and she’s smart as a whip. Did I mention that she never stops? She. Never. Stops!

The extemporaneous meeting memorialized in the photo above and the miniature video snippet below capture a hint of Pam’s character and demeanor. Susan, Carley, Rosslyn, and I (as well as sooo many others) are the fortunate, grateful beneficiaries. Our appreciation rings from the shores of Lake Champlain to the foothills of the Adirondacks. Thank you, Pam!
