Afternoon in the sunlight swaddled icehouse, day drawing to an end. There are few finer times or places to contemplate a view of the setting sun, springing orchard and gardens, meadows and forests, Boquet Mountain, and life along the Adirondack Coast.

Bathed in buttery sunshine — midday’s afterglow or eventide’s preamble? — the icehouse glows toward day’s end. The western exposure, more porous than the of three, invites the warming to flood the interior. To bounce around inside, reflecting off shiplap walls and ceiling, slicing through balusters, kindling the character rich ash and elm floor.

Reclining on the chaise-sofa, dictating ideas into phrases into daily update, I am bathed in grateful contentment, savoring the rewards of this adaptive reuse journey. The icehouse rehabilitation is nearly achieved. With warmer days will come final plantings. A few lingering landscape tasks will be completed. The fire pit will assume its position and the teak furniture will return to service. The vision is now almost entirely realized.

Until then I will savor the anticipation and the satisfaction of so many small accomplishments that have contributed to this time, this place. Thank you.
