Recent wildlife camera footage suggests that we just *might* be hosting a herd of Rosslyn reindeer. Or Eastern Whitetail Deer masquerading as reindeer…

That handsome 8-point buck above is rehearsing his best Rudolph routine, and his nimble chum below could pass as Prancer.

Captured with discretely located cameras in Rosslyn’s wildlife sanctuary, these robust whitetail deer are among a diverse population of native neighbors, thriving and coexisting in the 30-40 most private acres west of our home and barns.

Belated Thanksgiving thanks to John Davis, our dear friend and wildlife steward, for monitoring this land and its flora and fauna, managing the cameras, and periodically spoiling us with this sort of virtual backyard safari. Thanks, John!

Notwithstanding the Christmas holiday association, this is not actually Rudolph and Prancer. Or, at least I’m not certain. Then again, perhaps a little reindeer recon? Perhaps.
