Move-In Begins

At last, icehouse move-in begins! We’re not yet 100% finished with the icehouse rehab, but we’re close. Really, really close. Inside, at least. Outside, less so. Plenty of hardscaping and landscaping still in the works. But the interior is super close. I need to put the finishing touches on my loft cabinetry, and Peter needs to put the finishing touches on the coffee bar cabinetry. Glen is still touching up paint, and the stairway railing, well, that’s still mostly incomplete, another casualty of the OPUD unceremoniously terminated about a week ago for “dereliction of duties”. Update on railing soon. I hope.

But I’m not able or willing to postpone move-in any longer. I’ve been chomping at the bit, and my patience has been washed away in the rain. This weekend, a symbolic threshold I’ll revisit in tomorrow’s post, was my opportunity to show Tiho, our friend and the architect for the icehouse rehab, the results of his creative work. Although he departs tomorrow, he was at least able to get an *ALMOST* complete perspective. So long I’ve anticipated this moment that I’ve decided to go ahead begin my migration in spite of the loose ends. I’ve spent the last 5-6 weeks absent a dedicated workspace, perching and working out of my briefcase, dreaming of the day when I would be able to install myself in the icehouse.

Ready or not, that day has come. Pam retrieved my new chair and chaise from warehouse and upholsterer, Tony snd Supi transported them by hand to the icehouse, and now I get to clean out the drop cloths and sawdust and start to furnish my new domain.

Many thanks to everyone who helped get us this far. And thank you, Pam, Tony, snd Supi for delivering a couple of critical comfort ingredients. Let the transformation from job site to workspace begin!
