An arboreal alert from Glen, a prompt and well managed resolution by Tony, and a faltering first foray into a poem by me.
Glen: When I went to measure the gate I noticed a tree had broken off and hung up on other tree just above wire fence by the compost bin. Tony made short work of it and the fence is intact.
Geo: Never a dull moment. Thank you for catching it, and thank Tony for clearing it up. Is it usable for firewood?
Glen: It was pretty rotten/soft. Not a piece of bark on it, not even sure what type of tree it is. Maybe elm.
Geo: Good that it fell down w/o damaging anything.
Glen: It fell perfectly against cedars at point where branched out, which held it off the fence and out of neighbors yard.
And an abbreviated preamble to a poem still coalescing…
Vestigial trunk trimmed
by gravity and wind,
once sturdy crotch rotted,
clenched against time and fate
until cleaved by nature’s
wanton and wildering whims.
The lifeless stem careens,
glancing against cedars,
green fingered foliage
gentling the fall from grace,
young maple arresting
the earthen collision.
The most important part for last: Thank you, Tony!
