I woke up feeling grateful, thankful…

I woke up feeling grateful to everyone who has invested their time, skills, ideas, creativity, patience, laughter, and goodwill into Rosslyn’s icehouse rehabilitation. Such a tiny building, and yet sooo many people have collaborated and contributed. So today I pause for some overdue recognition, not to the many (that will come), but to the few who stood out today.
Let’s start with a nod to the team whose earworm, “Grateful”, a suitable soundtrack to today’s post. Thank you, Stevie Ray (aka callmestevieray) and Connor Price. I’m not sure when or where I first heard this song, but once heard, it can’t be unheard.
Grateful, Thankful
I jumped the gun this morning with an Instagram TBT post dedicated to Calvin. An April 13, 2023 photo had popped up, courtesy of Apple’s increasingly savvy flashback functionality. (The best AI strategies go for the feels!) Seemed like an appropriate TBT post to share tomorrow on July 13, exactly 3 months after it’d been taken.
But while prepping the post over coffee and Carley time, I received a message from Pam on her way to a medical procedure, a couple of hours away. Even as she was highway-ing away, she was still juggling Rosslyn punch-list priorities. I urged her to unbusy her brain and focus on herself for a change. She agreed, though I suspect she continued to multitask as she drove.
I took it as a sign. Share my grateful-for-xCalvin post now. Not later. And I did. That’s it above. Here’s a snippet from the caption.
Today I rewind to a moment exactly 3 months ago when Calvin was dimensioning and bench planing our homegrown lumber in the carriage barn. So many lives woven into this story! Thank you, Calvin.
A day earlier than planned, but a timely thanks – no actually overdue thanks – to a man who joined the team mid journey to deepen the ranks during our January change-up, and only recently shifted to other jobs. He’s gradually reclaiming the many tools he shared including a backhoe, skid steer, tool trailer, sheet metal brake (for creating custom drip edges, etc.), and plenty more. What a resource! Thank you, Calvin.
That March 2023 snapshot of Pam captures her energy and multitasking mind. Sitting on Rosslyn’s deck, loving up Carley, likely midway through an impromptu meeting with me, and simultaneously juggling something pressing over the telephone,… This is Pam. A mighty force for good. A lover of dogs. A gitter-doner. Always in motion. And the MVP and captain extraordinaire of teams Rosslyn, ADK Oasis, and much more. Thank you, Pam!
More In Store…
I started this post with the intention of calling out today’s superheroes. I’ve only covered the first two so far. And I’m out of time, heading out the door with Susan to meet up with my nephews for dinner-by-boat at the Basin Harbor Club. They, Erik and Christoph, manifested out of thin air today to help in a time of need. They were to be included in this post. And also Tony, Supi, Peter, and Glen. But I need to take a quick shower, throw on some clothes, and head out onto the most magnificent lake in the world. So consider this blog post abbreviated. I’ll continue my appreciation tomorrow…
