Rumor has it that Susan was a bit of a prankster once upon a time. She denies it, but I have it on good authority from an exceptionally reliable source (possibly Susan’s favorite sibling?) that she enjoyed a bit of teasing now and then. No longer, she assures me. But today is April Fool’s Day, so I couldn’t resist!
The photo above was supposed to be the crux of my 2024 April Fools’ Day prank for my bride. But at the last moment I concocted a different narrative involving a mystery buyer who’d made an irresistible offer on our home, too good to refuse… She called my bluff. She usually does. I guess I should’ve gone with the April 1 snowstorm!
Whether or not, Susan was actually a childhood prankster, I’ve used this long-standing justification when she tires of my tricks. And the truth be told, I was inclined to practical jokes long before Susan and I ever met. It’s woven into my DNA. Perhaps some thing about being the oldest of three children? Or lots of summer camps? Or four years of boarding school?
In any event, I’ve long enjoyed April Fools’ Day. Also referred you to as All Fool’s Day, this holiday is one of my favorites.
April Fools’ Day, in most countries the first day of April. It received its name from the custom of playing practical jokes on this day—for example, telling friends that their shoelaces are untied or sending them on so-called fools’ errands.
