Wadhams? Wadhams!

Just up the road from Rosslyn is the village where I lived for almost a decade as a child. Known officially as Wadhams, New York (and once upon a time as Wadhams Mills), this more recent redub communicates the enthusiasm felt by current residents of this riverside village.

Wadhams is a bit north of the community of Westport on Route 22. It actually is a hamlet within the Town of Westport. At first glance, it appears to be somewhat in the middle of nowhere, but the reason for its location is shared with many other Lake Champlain Region communities; it rests on the banks of moving water, the Boquet River… Wadhams was once known as Wadhams Mills… Agriculture thrives within this community, but its idyllic beauty and charm has also drawn many artisans and artists to make it their residence too. Wadhams provides the perfect setting for their work as well. (Source: Suzanne Maye, LakeChamplainRegion.com)

Wadhams! has evolved significantly since the days when I was a lad, from a sleepy, still-slightly-agricultural village in the 1970s and 10980s to an increasingly rejuvenated enclave of artists, creatives, and entrepreneurs.
